Artifact Adventure

Let’s dust off our explorer hats and uncover a treasure trove of additional ideas that will make your family’s museum trips even more memorable.

A Little Something Extra

  • Become Storytellers: Choose an exhibit and encourage everyone to imagine and share a story about the objects or artifacts on display.
  • Kid Curators: Let a younger family member be the “curator” of a small exhibit or section. They can explain what they see and why it’s interesting to them.
  • Museum Journal: Give each child a notebook for sketches, thoughts, and questions about exhibits. Add “stamps” or stickers from the museum gift shop to mark the adventure.

Be On The Lookout

  • Especially For You: Look for family-specific programs offered by the museum. Many places have guided tours or activities geared towards family enjoyment.
  • Don’t rush: Pick one or two sections to explore deeply instead of trying to see the whole museum in one day. This also helps with the attention spans of the younger museum goers, no need to force them to see everything – look to see what they find interesting and explore there!
