We’ve got a fresh chapter of delightfully novel ideas that will have the bookworms among us not hesitating to turn that page…
Bookstore Bliss
- Blind date: Each of you chooses a book for the other, but it’s wrapped in brown paper with only a few descriptive keywords written on the front. Unwrap and read a passage aloud over coffee!
- This meant a lot: Find your most beloved childhood books and share them with each other. Discuss why they meant so much to you.
- Scavenger hunt: Come up with a list of things to find in the bookstore (book with a blue cover, a cookbook with an odd ingredient, the oldest book on the shelf, etc.).
Cover To Cover
- Journal swap: During your bookstore exploration, each of you starts a small journal entry inspired by something found in the store (a quote, a book cover, a random thought). Swap at the coffee shop and add to each other’s writing.
- “Soundtrack” to your date: If you spot a music biography or a vinyl section, discuss the music that would be the theme song of your bookstore exploration. Build a shared playlist as you sip your coffee.
- Shop local: Seek out books written by authors from your city or region. Buy one to read together later.
Bonus Tip: Try to visit the bookstore during a less crowded time for a more relaxed experience, allowing you to really browse and chat without distractions.
