Ah, the thrill of the hunt! If digging through dusty boxes and haggling over prices has piqued your interest, you’re in for a real treasure. But don’t go bagging those booty just yet, mateys! There’s more adventuring to be had on the high seas of secondhand shopping…
Friendly Competition
- Time Period Hunt: Decide on a decade (think 1950s kitsch or 1980s pop culture) and challenge each other to find the most era-defining item.
- I’ll tell my grandkids this is: Search for the most bizarre, outdated, or hilariously strange objects. How would you explain the purpose to future generations? Most ridiculous explanation wins!
- Upcycle: Find an item that has great potential for a creative makeover. Bonus points for starting a DIY project together based on your find.
On The Hunt
- The $5 Challenge: Agree on a budget (say $5) and see who can find the most interesting/valuable item within that limit.
- Blindfolded Bargains: Take turns being blindfolded (or closing your eyes, no peeking!), then guide your partner to an object. They have to try and guess a price without seeing the object!
Coffee Is For Closers (or, After Sale-bration)
- At Brunch: Try and invent elaborate backstories for the items you bought. The wackier the tale, the better!
- Appraisal Time: Search online to see if your treasures are worth more than you paid.
- Photo Booth: Use your finds as props and strike some silly poses in your favorite vintage clothes.
